WARNING: Performing The Song "Kung Fu Fighting" May Be A Hate Crime
Friends in case you have not said it already, allow me to say it for you: WTF?!
In my short lifetime I have witnessed the Western World devolve from a people proud of our collective contributions to humanity over the last two thousand years to a people raised instead to focus on every real or imagined sin committed by our ancestors. So ashamed are we now supposed to be that we can only make amends by groveling at the feet of the rest of the world and loudly crying “mea culpa”; the results are not surprising. The West no longer commands the respect of the world and has invited instead the disdain and hostility of peoples who once aspired to either live among us or bring the best we had to offer to their own people. It is a sad truth about humanity that if you give an inch people will take a mile. Now that we shun the hard earned laurels of our ancestors is it any surprise that there are those people who wish to press the advantage and overtake us?
Simon Ledger’s arrest, though simultaneously comical and sad, is a warning signal. It is, as he himself said, “political correctness gone potty”, but the fact is that political correctness has always been only worthy of the toilet. It is one thing to be sensitive to the feelings of people and quite another to encourage people to be oversensitive to the point where they seek out personal slights. As Americans we most likely laugh at this incident confident that it could never happen here, but are we not seeing variations of that every day in the media? In a time and place where just the act of dissenting with President Obama can earn one the label of racist are we perhaps not even more far gone than what happened to Simon Ledger? Before anyone in this country thinks with smug certainness “that could never happen here” I would suggest it already is.

Donald Trump: Big, Brass Teflon Coated Balls
When confronted by a derisive and hostile press with the news that Barack Obama had finally released his birth certificate “The Donald”, rather than be embarrassed or admit any kind of defeat confounded the Obama-mania media by holding his head high and declaring “Today I am very proud of myself because I have accomplished something that nobody else has been able to accomplish”. The man with his name on everything went on further to say how honored he was “to have played such a big role in hopefully, hopefully, getting rid of this issue. Now, we have to look at it, we have to see, is it real”. As they say, now that's balls!
Anyone else in politics , and I do mean virtually anyone else, would have been dealt a major, humiliating defeat today. After trumpeting the “birther” issue for weeks Donald Trump was supposed to have been dealt a major smack down today and yet rather then come away tarnished those big brass ones are shinier than ever.
One must marvel, even admire the audacity and cool under fire that Mr. Trump demonstrated today. To take what should have been a losing moment and so brashly turn it into a win is absolutely remarkable. Certainly it is not so unexpected to have heard him say the issue has hopefully been put to rest, but to take credit for it and beat his chest in pride, that is unexpected to say the least. (Considering that people, starting with the Clinton Campaign in 2008, have been raising questions about Obama's birth certificate Trump may very well be justified in taking credit today.)
As the public digests these new sound bites two major camps most likely will arise: those who find it amusing and those skeptics who are now given pause to consider what kind of steady, steel nerves this man must have. More than that it boldly declares that he is not a lifelong politician and as such refuses to play by the established rules of politics. In today's cynical, disenchanted political environment that alone could win him thousands of votes. Whatever the case Mr. Trump's audacity certainly gives his supporters hope that he is a serious contender for the 2012 Republican nomination and it most likely gives the White House pause as they consider how to confront him next.
Still there is a very serious side to all this as one cannot help but wonder about the timing of today’s announcement from the White House. Was it purely an attempt to put Trump in his place or was it an attempt to dominate the headlines and thereby crowding out the first ever press conference held by a Federal Reserve Chairman (Ben Bernanke). If the answer is the former the White House lost; if it is the latter it is a victory for the floundering administration. If you can keep all eyes off the rising water on the sinking ship the captain may very well get people to book a second cruise.

Barack Obama: Outlaw!
With all eyes currently on the megalomaniac in
It may surprise you to read this, but I myself believe the Defense of Marriage Act to be at best wrong headed and at worst truly un-Constitutional, but this is a nation of laws in which a framework exists by which laws thought to be un-Constitutional may be repealed or overturned. Whether or not President Obama is correct in his opinion that DOMA is un-Constitutional is irrelevant in the face of the precedent this action sets and the way it continues to grow the power of the Executive at the cost of the Legislature, the Courts and every citizen. Generation after generation of American children have been taught to cherish and be proud of the system of checks and balances our founders created. A system with the express goal of preventing the kind of authoritarian rule which has plagued mankind since before the Pharoahs!
Today the Left rejoices at the President’s decision; it is a very short sighted celebration. Consider the implications of a President picking and choosing which laws to enforce or not. Consider how it may very well affect you personally. What of the day when a President decides Miranda Rights need not be enforced? What of the day when a President decides property Rights have no validity? What of the day when a President decides protecting your freedom of speech is no longer something he wishes to do? This action by President Obama is not about civil rights in any way except to the degree that it creates a precedent by which ALL civil rights may be de-facto suspended by a future President who decides he will not enforce the laws guaranteeing your right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
It is sad that a floundering Presidency would resort to this kind of cheap politicking to pander to its base at the cost of eroding the very Constitution upon which this nation was built and grew to be the greatest of all nations. It would be my hope that Left, Right or Center all Americans can agree that no President is above the law. Americans have always prided themselves on being immune to the cult of personality where our elected leaders our concerned and giving our first allegiance to the Constitution above all else. Those who willfully ignore this gross violation of the oath of office, or worse yet support it, give their first allegiance either to the man Obama or their own ideology; that is not the American way and it is surely the road to ruin and despotism.

Scott Brown, Obama and the Suspension of Disbelief
In what is sure to go down in history as one of the most infamous examples of sheer delusion or bald faced lying, President Obama sat down with George Stephanopoulos shortly after Scott Brown’s victory to offer an interesting explanation as to why the bluest of blue states would choose a Republican to succeed Ted Kennedy: “Here’s my assessment of not just the vote in Massachusetts but the mood around the country: the same thing that swept Scott Brown into office swept me into office. People are angry and they’re frustrated. Not just because of that’s happened in the last year or two years, but what’s happened over the last eight years.” Doubling down on his boss’ unique political analysis White House Press Secretary and stand up comedian in training Robert Gibbs told Chris Wallace in an interview that in electing Scott Brown “More people voted to express their support for Barack Obama than to oppose him.” (I personally think that Mr. Gibbs will make an excellent stand up comedian because time and again he’s able to say such outrageous things with a straight face.)
Friends, if you’ve recovered from your raucous laughter let us consider seriously what the President and his comic sidekick are telling us and his nervous Congressional majority: the political tsunami that was Scott Brown’s victory was not a repudiation of the Obama agenda, even though Mr. Brown campaigned explicitly on that, but rather it was continued anger over George Bush and evidence of continued support for “change we can believe in”. This is not surprising, however, when one sees the way in which the White House and the Congressional Democrats derided and dismissed the Tea Party protests throughout the Spring and Summer. This self deception is a continuation of a pattern by Congressional Democrats who sat through packed town hall meetings where their constituents begged them not to vote for Obamacare only to return to Washington and do exactly that. These are the people attempting to re-write history by saying it was the failure to pass Healthcare reform that swept them out of power in 1994 and so now more than ever they must stay the course no matter what the polls, pundits and people say! Among people for whom re-election is the Holy Grail one must wonder what kind of ideologue extremists we have in Washington such that they are willing to risk their careers to pass the President’s agenda.
I appreciate that in the wake of such an unexpected and devastating defeat as is Scott Brown’s win the President has to reassure his Congressional allies in order to move his agenda forward, but the suspension of disbelief is better suited for science fiction novels than Party platforms.

Martha Stewart Serves Up Anti-Palin Hatred For Thanksgiving
I’ll make a confession right up front: it was not my intention to write about Sarah Palin again so soon, but coming right on the heels of my unfortunate experience listening to NPR stoke the flames of anti-Palin hysteria last week I could not remain silent when I once again heard such absurdist hatred coming from yet another feminine voice.
Interviewed while walking another red carpet last week, egalitarian in name only Martha Stewart was asked about Sarah Palin. As dispassionately as she reads recipes off her studio teleprompter the former prison inmate didn’t miss a beat in spewing her unsubstantiated criticism and hate against the former Alaska governor, beauty queen, homemaker, sportswoman, author and all around American sweetheart. Asked “why do you think she’s polarizing to so many people?” the compassionate ex-con first tried to feign disinterest by saying “She’s, uh, very boring to me. Very boring.” Okay, fair enough. I am sure lying to Federal investigators and ending up in prison is much more interesting than watching Sarah Palin connect with America’s working men and women; had that been the end of it I wouldn’t have a thing to say, but Mizz Stewart, who claims to be bored by Mrs. Palin had more to say.
“To me (She’s) kind of a dangerous person. I mean, to, uh, she’s dangerous.” Asked to clarify the loquacious Stewart explained “She speaks. She’s so confused, and anyone like that in government is a real problem.” The interviewer, obviously finding Sarah Palin more interesting than the woman who rode her ex-husband’s coattails to fame and fortune, pressed ahead wondering if Stewart had caught any of Governor Palin’s interviews on television. Stewart, who had only seconds before claimed she found Sarah Palin so “very boring” responded “I wouldn’t watch her if you paid me!” As a simple human being I was not aware that blue blood gifted people with such transcendental powers as being able to be bored by someone I supposedly pay no attention to, not to mention find them dangerous! So which is it, Martha? Do you pay her attention and hence become bored and frightened or are you pulling all this out of your oven mitts?
Stepping away from my sarcastic fury for a moment let me leave you with this thought: we are not even one hundred years from the day women won the right to vote in this country and yet we are on the very cusp of seeing a woman become President of the United States (whoever she may finally be). What service does it provide women or humanity itself to deride, mock, and make non-substantive fear mongering attacks on a self made, American success story such as Sarah Palin? One does not need to walk lock step politically with Governor Palin to recognize that her accomplishments have indeed made her perhaps the greatest renaissance woman of our time. Consider that whether you agree with her politics or not her story can prove to be an inspiration for millions of our daughters who daily have to struggle with the poisonous pop culture, hip hop generation, music video message that they are only worth as much as their sex appeal.
Martha Stewart is today worth $638 million and would have you believe she is a self made woman; yet she owes it all to the doors her ex-husband first opened for her three decades ago. Sarah Palin may very well become President of the United States and she owes all her success to the doors she kicked open on her own, never forgetting that her husband and family were and are by her side. That is the American woman who embodies the Spirit of this nation. Martha, keep walking the red carpets and stay in your kitchen because out in the real world you can’t take the heat from a rising sun like Sarah Palin.
